StormBlade Shredding Technologies

It cuts confidently and discharges evenly, even when cutting wet or thin branches.
It is a well-designed package comprising a drum with air blades, hardened AISI 4140 blades and an adjustable counter-blade. Together, these components ensure a clean cut and stable operation while reducing the load on the engine. There is no “chewing”, stalling or issues with chip discharge.

The disc is equipped with four circular knives that uniformly shred branches, creating a powerful airflow that easily ejects the chips through the discharge chute.
The disc is made of 20 mm-thick steel and has a diameter of 730 mm and a weight of 104.5 kg. Its substantial mass enables it to function as a flywheel, accumulating kinetic energy and reducing the load on the engine. Integrated blades generate an intensive airflow based on the fan principle, ensuring that chips are discharged evenly and without clogging. After welding, the disc undergoes mandatory balancing to eliminate vibrations and prevent premature wear.

LineCut Blades

The blades are made from AISI 4140 alloy steel, which can withstand heavy loads without chipping and will stay sharp for a long time, even when processing dry hardwoods.
High-impact toughness AISI 4140 tool steel is used. The cutting edge undergoes heat treatment using the HFC (High-Frequency Current) induction hardening method, combining a hard surface (60 HRC) with a ductile core. This enables the blades to withstand impact without breaking and to operate stably even under intense loads. The drum blades and hammers are made of AISI 5140 steel.

Adjustable Counter-blade

It secures the branch for precise, even cuts. The adjustable, ground counter-blade holds the branch firmly in place during the cutting process, ensuring clean cuts without “chewing”, particularly when processing thin or flexible wood.
Thanks to its precision-ground surface, the counter-blade is installed with minimal clearance to the main knives. The counter-blade can be moved closer to the drum as the knives wear down via slots on the body. This design ensures secure branch fixation and consistent shredding quality.

Using a Cardan Shaft
With a Friction Clutch

For optimal safety and performance, we recommend connecting the wood shredder to the tractor using a Class T5 cardan shaft equipped with a friction clutch.
At a critical moment, this system absorbs the impact, preventing damage. Instead of the tractor breaking down or coming to a halt, the wood shredder stops, keeping your equipment safe and intact.
The clutch is composed of friction discs compressed by spring-loaded bolts. The force of the springs determines the moment of operation. Operating principle: when the shredder knives become jammed, the clutch discs begin to rotate, disengaging the load from the tractor.
⚠️ The cardan shaft is not included with the wood chipper, but it is available for purchase separately from us.

A few times it happened so that the branch was just too big. The engine didn’t stall – it simply idled. I stopped the PTO, removed the branch and carried on. It’s smooth and stress-free.

Protective shields and curtains

All hazardous elements are fully protected with guards, preventing accidental contact with the belt or flywheel. Yet, when maintenance is required, accessing these parts is quick and convenient.
The transmission components (clutch, belt, and pulley-flywheel) are enclosed within a double-sided casing for enhanced safety. The hopper allows crushed raw materials to be ejected in one direction only, minimizing the risk of injury. Additionally, the input is equipped with a protective curtain to guard against flying chips.

Reinforced Input Hopper

A robust bunker built to withstand impacts. During operation, branches frequently hit the bunker walls. Therefore, we designed it to be as rigid and deformation-resistant as possible.
The hopper is reinforced with additional stiffening ribs around the perimeter and has a thickened base for protection against impacts from branches. Thanks to its solid, rigid design, it remains stable even when carrying heavy loads for long periods of time. High durability that can support the weight of an adult – you can comfortably sit or stand on top of it.

Adjustable Discharge Deflector

The wood chips land exactly where you need them. Thanks to the adjustable deflector on the discharge chute, you can set the discharge direction precisely — into a cart, a container or directly onto the ground. You can change the angle in seconds without any tools.
The deflector is secured by two hand knobs for easy manual adjustment of the discharge angle. The discharge chute can rotate through 360° and provides an ejection height of up to 1650 mm, allowing you to direct the chip flow in any direction without having to reposition the wood shredder.
