  • Processes up to 200 m³ of wood per sharpening. Equipped with reliable knives made from durable AISI 5140 steel, featuring a double sharpening angle and a hardened cutting edge for consistently long-lasting, stable performance.

  • The knives undergo precise heat treatment: the outer layer is hardened to 50 HRC on the Rockwell scale for exceptional durability, while the inner layer remains elastic to prevent chipping. A double sharpening angle further extends their lifespan, allowing for up to six re-sharpenings.

    Tapered couplings allow the blades to be aligned perfectly in one plane, enabling the shredder to handle even the thinnest branches with ease.

  • Unlike rigid connections (splines, keys), tapered couplings do not wear out over time. They eliminate backlashes and allow for precise adjustment of the gap between the blades. In case of overload (over 2000 Nm), the coupling slips, protecting the mechanism from damage.

  • The fastening system uses a groove fit and high-strength class 12.9 bolts with sealant. This design ensures even load distribution along the shaft and allows for quick, precise knife adjustment after sharpening.

PowerGuard protective friction clutch

  • This system protects the motor from overload if you accidentally load a branch that exceeds the permissible diameter into the chipper. Rather than “killing” the motor, the chipper simply stops without damage.

  • A friction clutch of ARPAL’s own design is installed on the motor shaft. If the cutting unit is overloaded, the clutch automatically disengages the motor from the load. This prevents sudden motor stoppage and helps prolong its service life.

A few times it happened so that the branch was just too big. The engine didn’t stall — it simply idled. You remove the branch and carry on. It’s smooth and stress-free.

Protective shields and curtains

  • All hazardous elements are fully protected with guards, preventing accidental contact with the belt or flywheel. Yet, when maintenance is required, accessing these parts is quick and convenient.

  • The transmission components (clutch, belt, and pulley-flywheel) are enclosed within a double-sided casing for enhanced safety. The hopper allows crushed raw materials to be ejected in one direction only, minimizing the risk of injury. Additionally, the input is equipped with a protective curtain to guard against flying chips.

  • Smooth start with no jerks or strain – the engine fires up effortlessly and seamlessly.

    When started, the engine revs without engaging the chopper mechanism. The clutch engages smoothly only once the engine reaches around 1500 rpm, at which point the entire cutting mechanism begins to rotate.

For example, if a branch gets stuck and needs to be removed, the blades can be rotated easily since they are not connected to the engine. Similarly, when starting the engine, there is no need to rotate the entire mechanism — only the engine itself.

Conveyor with gas lifts

  • Maximum productivity, minimal effort.
    Feed shredded material up to 3.3 meters high directly into a trailer, bag, or another container. Gas lifts allow the conveyor to be folded and unfolded effortlessly, so that even a person can handle it without assistance.

Max loading height

The conveyor features both folded and unfolded positions for easy transportation and storage. It is equipped with a four-layer polymer belt manufactured in the Netherlands. The conveyor chains are ultrasonically welded for durability. The inclination angle is adjustable via a winch, and the maximum loading height reaches 3.3 meters.

The transporter is incredibly convenient – we only need one assistant, and our work goes three times faster. The gas lifts are an absolute game-changer!

Reinforced input hopper

  • A robust bunker built to withstand impacts. During operation, branches frequently hit the bunker walls. Therefore, we designed it to be as rigid and deformation-resistant as possible

  • The hopper structure is reinforced along its perimeter with additional stiffening ribs and a supporting channel, while the attachment to the cutting module features a 4 mm-thick steel flange. This design prevents deformation or settling over time.
